The talk of ceasefire in a bombed-out Gaza, while there is a continued daily destruction of critical infrastructure, land encroachment and deliberate murder of civilians, is scandalous, and the media coverage of the deal hides the ongoing genocide. At the outset, we reiterate that it was Israel and the USA that reneged on the last ceasefire and prolonged the genocide. These countries and their leaders need not be rewarded nor praised but they must be charged as war criminals!
Human rights organisation, PSA has always supported the Palestinians’ demand for the end of the illegal occupation and a ceasefire. This will enable water, food, and justice to flow so that real accountability will result. It is a shame that the world endures and witnesses the starving and thirsting of Palestinians for months on end. This indignity of Palestinians in Gaza has been piled upon those surviving a Zionist blockade since 2017.
We also note that the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) has been described as a ‘genocidal smokescreen’ where Palestinians are being starved into submission. As of July 9th, agencies counted over 770 Palestinians killed while trying to collect aid from the US- and Israel-backed GHF sites. Several children are among these victims with over 4,000 more injured. These killings by a so-called humanitarian agency colluding with the Israeli’s killer army, makes them complicit in a genocide. GHF must be abolished.
In ongoing ceasefire negotiations, two key issues remain under discussion: the unconditional and dignified entry of aid into Gaza, and the need for clearly defined Israeli withdrawal lines that protect civilians and allow progress toward the next phase. Guarantees must be secured to uphold these terms and ensure justice for Palestinians.
The reality of the situation in Palestine remains humanly incomprehensible with 119 children (37 percent of all Palestinian child detainees), being held in administrative detention by Israel. They are held without charge or trial, while Israeli authorities enact systematic restrictions on access to legal counsel, family visits, and parliamentary oversight. Most recent figures confirm that over 323 Palestinian children are detained in Israeli prisons as of March 31, the latest data available from the Israel Prison Service (IPS), which is the highest number since 2017.
In this context, the spin by the genocidaires that they are giving Palestinians in Gaza a free choice to leave amidst starvation, bombing, and mass killings, is obscene and must be condemned. Continuing with this, is collusion with genocide.
The PSA Demands:
- An immediate, permanent ceasefire in Gaza and the West Bank. This demand includes our call for the release of bodies of political prisoners who were killed in Israeli prisons and concentration camps or in combat against Zionism.
- The immediate and full withdrawal of the IDF in Gaza and West Bank to the 1967 borders and the establishment of an independent UN peace-keeping force.
- The immediate disbanding of the devastating and humiliating GHF which has only served to intensify the suffering and killing of the starving people of Gaza.
- The immediate and unconditional restoration of aid distribution through UNRWA and independent agencies, to allow for the unrestricted entry and distribution of humanitarian aid.
Furthermore, in the demand for justice we call for:
- The ICC to expedite trials for Netanyahu, Gallant, and all identified IDF military personnel, political leaders and business accomplices in the genocide. The ICC accused them of war crimes arguing that they “…bear criminal responsibility for the following crimes as co-perpetrators for committing the acts jointly with others: the war crime of starvation as a method of warfare; and the crimes against humanity of murder, persecution, and other inhumane acts.”
- Shareholders, CEOs and managers of the corporation’s complicity in enabling the genocide to be investigated and charged by the ICC as colluding with the genocidal states and their leaders.
To conclude, we reject any notion of ‘transferring’ and further ethnically cleansing Palestine of its indigenous people and of replacing them with foreign, self-entitled, and privileged white supremacist Zionist occupiers. We demand that the international community that has stood aside all along urgently join in reconstructing Gaza’s infrastructure: hospitals and all places of learning as well as homes. This includes the restitution of livelihoods such as farming, fishing, and agriculture. We recognise that these are minimum demands in the long march for true Palestinian liberation.
