The Global Sumud Flotilla has once again set sail from the Spanish port of Barcelona, aiming to break Israel’s blockade on Gaza and deliver humanitarian aid. The Israeli military blocked similar attempts last year, arresting hundreds of activists. Jaime Velazquez reports.

More than 3 000 participants from over 100 countries will once again sail on more than 100 vessels as part of the Global Sumud Flotilla Spring 2026 mission to Gaza. This year’s mission will deploy a specialised medical fleet carrying more than 1 000 healthcare professionals and stocked with life-saving medicines and equipment. The previous Flotilla that sailed last year was intercepted by the Government of Israel, with global participants including Nkosi Zwelivelile Mandela, Zukiswa Wanner being detained and later released after a global outcry. To tell us more, we are joined in the studio by Yasmine Acar, one of the Global Sumud Flotilla activist.
